A simple task complicated

March 6, 2011

Recently, though I can’t remember why, I decided to reset my iPod so I could reorganize my music.  I have entirely too much music on my iTunes to successfully managed to “sync” my iPod.  I’ve got a classic 30 gig, so not enough room.  Syncing only allows me to get half of my music.  Plus, If I did use that option I’d probably would end up with all of M’s collection of Alexis on Fire instead of my beloved upbeat music.

So, I intentionally select “manual” for setting up my songs.  Not a bad thing, really.  However, it seems that this whole process has decided to wreak some havoc on some of my OCD type tendencies.  You see, whenever I drag over a large list of songs, for reasons unknown, the artwork does not copy over accordingly.  The artwork section simply remains blank for half the albums!  This is unacceptable, as I just like to see the picture by the music playing on the screen of my iPod whenever possible.  Really, is that too much to ask?

Being plucky and resourceful, I determinedly set out to find a work-around to solve this issue.  I simply copy the artwork over to my iPod.  Easy enough, right?  Wrong.  It has turned out to be an incredibly painstaking adventure.  Whenever I copy the artwork it takes a good 30 seconds to copy over, jamming the screen.  So for each album, I must wait.  This adds up quickly.  To add only the “M” section of my albums took almost 2 hrs.  But I can’t stop!  I must finish because I’ve got to make it work!

AHHH!!!  The pressure!!!!

I really wish I could give up, but as I reach the “R” grouping I feel an end is in sight…

Now which Radiohead albums do I add???

Techno-poop

July 17, 2008

Seriously.

I want to drop kick my computer out the window today.  It’s bumped me off an on the network connection for work so many times it’s like it’s on a see-saw. One minute it’s fine, the next minutes it’s not.  It’s fickle!  And I’m getting tired of it!  A few minutes ago all but about 2 of my programs stopped working.  Sheesh.

I think I will have to go on strike and let my computer do all the work instead of me tomorrow.

Tantrum Smantrum

January 22, 2007

Ugh.

Today didn’t start out well. I fell asleep with my contact lenses in. I woke up with them stuck to my totally blood shot eyes. Then I had to clean up after the kittens. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to having to sweep up kitty litter every morning and night. Then I showered. Seem ok so far, right? Yeah, gets worse…

I sit down on my bed. The bed frame shifts and my boxspring hit the floor. So did I. GAH! I very noisily start to try and fix this issue. I have to pull off the mattress, I move the boxspring. Can I feel any worse? I’m already overtired and feeling frustrated. I take a minute to check my computer – what??? It’s not recognizing the internet/my airport express hardware anymore. Shit! I can’t handle it. I call Rachel and get the number for Apple. I find out I’m on set up. GAH!

I start to yell and scream. Today sucks. The first Mac help guy does nothing because I don’t have the purchase date on hand. I yell at him and practically hang up. I take a minute, find the date and call back. I get Sam. Sam helps me fix the issue. I thank him. I fix my bed and clean my room. I breathe.

What tantrum?

Epson can bite my ass.

August 4, 2006

I’ve never tried to do this before – print a CD on my printer – good thing because it clearly doesn’t work. And apparently I’m not the only one who has issues with this feature and Epson printers. You figured things would actually work if they say that will.

Hmpf.

Epson, you stink.

Gah!

Learning the glory of widgets

March 26, 2006

So, I’m clearly converting over in a really crazy way. Today I spend a good solid 45 minutes browsing widget downloads and I managed to find one that SCREAMS me. Yep, it’s a little box that spits out quotes from 80’s movies in a weird robot-like voice. It’s great. I actually squealed when I found it. So far I’ve been given quotes from Sixteen Candles, Pee-Wee Great Adventure and Mannequin. Seriously, could this be any more my style? hehehehe.

I am loving this.

Shout out to Jen G for the love of widgets.

Can USB any more annoying?

March 25, 2006

So, I’ve taken the time to set up the new printer. The ink is in, the paper is set. It’s ready to go, I’ve got everything in the box. But what the crap? I need a USB cable to connect it to my computer. Sure, that’s fine, but where, where I say is it written on the box that I need this cable? I mean, had I known, wouldn’t I have bought it along with the computer and printer puchase.

This is balls.

The anticipation is killing me

March 18, 2006

Ok, so, I’m dying here – my new lovely computer has been delayed in shipping. The new estimated shipping date is this coming Monday, and I’m fraught with anticipation. I just keep thinking – just make it through the weekend…you can do it. I swear, if it’s delayed again I’ll cry. My current computer is killing me. I can’t do anything on it that doesn’t take about 20 minutes. I mean, I can turn it on, toast my bagel in the morning, and still come back before it’s done loading up Gmail. It hurts so bad. I can’t wait to be working on my new superfast, superwicked machine! Just another couple of days…

A little bundle of joy

March 10, 2006

So, folks, it’s here. It’s finally here. I now have my lovely sleek Ipod. I own an Ipod. It’s in my hands (well, not literally because 1. I’m at work and it’s at home and 2. I’m typing). It’s pretty, and it’s got my name on it. Just a few more days and I’ll be able to use it! (I’ve got to wait for my new computer because my old one can’t handle the Itunes stuff). I can’t wait! Wahoo!

Sometimes, I find it is ok to be materialistic.

Maybe not so slowly converting…

February 21, 2006

It’s happening. I’m not sure how, but it is. I’m becoming one of those people. You know them, the Mac enthusiasts. I don’t know how or when, but I’ve jumped on that bandwagon. I’m finding myself drooling over the prospects of a new computer, and rather than presenting myself on board for a new PC I’ve been checking out the Apple website almost daily.

The new Intel Dual Core IMac are just really, really sweet machines. Really. It seems that commercials about it have to come on every day when I getting ready for work, just taunting me. And it turns out that my friend Chris is also drooling over it. Maybe we can get a pair, that would be nice.

It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.
