Yep, I did it! I didn’t think I would make it to the polls, but it turns out that it was right around the corner from my house, and the process took all of 5 minutes.
At least that’s something positive, right?
Maybe.

Well, it’s about time – I’ve rejoined the life of a blogger and along with that come great responsibility…to meme. I’ve been tagged by LtK to share some totally awesome and very random facts about myself. So, here goes:
1. When I was younger, I was convinced that anything was my favourite was only allowed to be my favourite. Seriously. I got really, really, really mad at my sister one day when she told me that her favourite food was pizza because that was mine, and it was like she was trying to steal it from me.
2. One my guilty pleasures is Hilary Duff. I have some of her music, and I’ve seen just about every single one of her cheesy teen movies. Truthfully it all started with an addition to Lizzie Maguire – so much so that I saw the Lizzie Maguire movie in a theatre by myself. I was the only person in there and the staff looked super surprised when I walked out. Guess it explains why the jerks never took time to adjust the focus of the movie…
3. One of the deepest and truest moments in my life is when I stepped off the plane in Africa in 2005 and felt for the very first time that I had come home. It’s really the only time I’ve ever had that feeling.
4. My favourite Newfie meal is a wonderful thing called toutons. They are deep fried or pan fried bits of homemade bread dough you eat with molasses or syrup. Some even use jam. In fact, I love them so much it is my life goal to learn to make proper bread dough (or own a bread maker) just to have toutons.
5. At work I have to fill out a productivity report for what I’m doing every minute of the day. I sit on an email inbox so every minute or so when an email is answered I have to add a number to a box. There is a reason for it, which I won’t get in to, but in the end, it’s not a fun thing. I will be glad to leave it behind.
6. I detest the song “Puff the magic dragon”. Not because of possible drug overtones – I mean, I love “Mr. Tambourine Man” – but simply because when I was about five I thought the song was too sad. Same with “An American Tale”. I makes no sense, but I still have an adversion to both to this day. I just won’t listen/watch them.
7. I love the two freckles on my left forearm that are very close together. They remind me of eyes, and sometimes when I’m bored I draw a smile underneath them so that my arm smiles at me.
Phew! Done! Hope you don’t all totally thing I’m the weirdest person ever – ok – rather, I hope that opinion hasn’t been re-confirmed.
All that’s left is to tag! I’ve added you all, respond as you will. I’ll be interested in what will come of it.

Today is a big day worldwide.
The 2nd gen iPhone went on sale first thing this morning, New Zealanders being some of the first people to grab one of the shelves. I don’t know that many are prepared for the insanity. People lined up in front of the Rogers near Yonge/Dundas Square starting at 4:00 pm yesterday afternoon so they could be cool! Too bad the about the thunderstorm at 5 am! I’m kinda in mixed feelings about the iPhone – it’s a great gadget, but is it something I really need? Especially when it’s going to cost tons to operate daily? I don’t know, but that’s OK for now. I can always wait for the next generation that will be even more awesome because Mac is good like that.

But I shall not bring down this day! It’s a day to celebrate for other reasons too! Yes, today is FREE SLURPEE DAY at 7-Eleven. In honour of their anniversary, let’s all head to the awesome participating 7-Elevens in the city to slurp down some slushy refreshing goodness until we get an ice cream headache and supreme sugar rush all in one! Who’s in? I am!

Today I’m one day closer to another cottage adventure. This time we’re heading to the Muskoka’s to hang out at Rachel’s cottage, as pass time I truly love. In fact, I’m so exicted this entire week I’ve been thinking that it’s one day later in the week than it actually was. (ie Monday felt like Tuesday, etc.) Today is just Thursday though and I can’t wait for tomorrow.
Seriously. I’m so restless this week - I don’t want to sit still in the afternoons and I’m getting antsy about stuff. It’s weird. That usually means something is going to happen, I just don’t know what yet. Weird.

Grr.
First off I’ve had one hell of a day trying to organize my exams for my courses. Mostly what’s causing issues is that the coordinator from the invigilation place doesn’t seem to understand the word “early”. I need to write an exam on the 24th of May, which is causing issues because my good friend Ann Marie is getting married that day at 1:00 pm. So, when I booked the exam I asked to have my 3 hr exam scheduled “early”. To them, early means 10:00. Let’s do the math. My exam is 3 hrs, starting at 10:00 am means my exam ends at 1:00 pm. Isn’t that when Annie’s wedding is? GAH! No go. I’m not missing the wedding. Luckily I decided to say “too bad so sad stupid person!” and I booked an exam the day before with another place. (A 10$ difference is a small price to pay for being at the wedding).
Secondly, work has been nuts today. People have just seemed off their rockers and totally doing strange things. I don’t get it. It makes me feel like I’m on crazy pills. Really, we’re probably all just fine, we’ve just got a case of the “stupids” when it comes to communicating properly. Sheesh. I hate these days, mostly because I get blamed when stuff goes wrong. Or at least it feel that way. But I won’t go on because it’s work, and people say I shouldn’t blog about work.
Thirdly, I’m restless. And I’m annoyed about that.
Maybe it’ll get better one I go home and watch Lost.

Recently, I set myself up with even more Google related accessories. Along with my gmail and blogger, and my frequent use of YouTube, I find myself also frequently my iGoogle page (kinda like a dashboard from Mac OSX but online) and my Google calendar. Quite frankly, it’s a little silly. I guess I’m just pumping even more money into their corporation.

I hate forwards, like most people, but this was sent to me via email and I thought it was good enough to post.
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn’t always fair, and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year- old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or a Band Aid to a student but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an
abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I’m A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Things are really busy lately. I’ve been out and about a lot, except for the last two night where I took some time for me, and worked on some much needed details for Freekout Tree-Point Oh. Last night was working on transportation, today was working on the Freekout CD (hence frustration below). Other frustration include finding out that Mac will only let me burn purchased iTunes 7 times. Not good when you want to make 15 CDs. Poo on that. Oh well, I’ll figure out something.
I also made another CD mix as a gift. I’m really excited about that.
Oh, and tonight for dinner I made honey garlic chicken wings and rice – so good, seeing as I marinated the wings for 24 hrs. Just right. Mmm. Feels good to cook and to have some me time. Just imagine in less than a month I will be living alone.
Wow.

Just for fun, I decided to hop on the train with LTK and Jen in terms of putting up some celeb appreciation photos. Here are some boys I enjoy and some of the reasons why.

The move is officially done. I am now living near Boystown, subletting my friend Kate’s place. And although it is only a temporary move, I’ve gotta say I am just glad to have it over with. The move when off even more smoothly than I though. I couldn’t believe it. I was petrified of three things: 1) driving a cube truck in Toronto, 2) not having enough man power to get moved quickly and 3) not having enough room to dump my stuff while subletting. All I can say is that the worrying was all for naught. I had no trouble with the truck at all, I had plenty of loving help getting the move done (Thanks Enoch, Coatesy, Anne Marie and Jon!) and there is more than enough room at the new place to store all my boxes.
Next step, finding a new place for September. No stress. It will happen. God obviously provides. Maybe I can find a new hip downtown pad just for me. That would be awesome. Baby steps.
Work is good too, feels a little strange to be back after a break. They changed the lights here, and I felt so weird to be walking in this morning. I kept thinking something was different until someone tipped me off. I managed to survive the day only being minimally affected by the almost inevitable feeling of stupidity that comes on after a break from the daily grind- you know, that time you need to relearn work mode – and I was actually quite productive today. Productive enough to get stuff done before writing on my blog.
Yes, friends, she’s back in the game.
