Sheesh!
I’m in the process of co-organizing the orientation for incoming students at the faculty of Nursing this fall. Things are moving right along, but we had a few hiccups yesterday and today. One major one was copying the mailing address from last year’s enrollment forms – IT WAS THE WRONG POSTAL CODE! So in panic, we had to send out emails finding out how many people’s letter we are expecting letters from. So, I’ve basically spent hours of my day at the computer answering questions and emails about what to do about this situation. SHIIIIT.
Now, I can’t even believe that I’m blogging, seeing as I’ve been at a computer for almost 6 hours today. Yikes. It’s like I’m back at my old office job. Yuck!
Maybe today will be better.

This past week I’ve worked almost every single day – it’s kind of nice. I have really enjoyed having a flexible schedule, so I don’t mind coming in for a few days at a time. I like this job. But what’s funny is that I notice, I’m becoming a keener again, and I’m in usually about 20-30 minutes before my shift starts. I did this at my old job, but it usually meant I was cracking away at my computer about 20 minutes early to get a jump on the morning. However, for this current job, that’s not really necessary, but I still feel compelled to come in to feel prepared.
Does anyone else do that? I’m sure I’m not the only person. I’m curious though – why do we do that? Or, I guess why do I do that? Perhaps it’s because my mother taught be to be prompt or perhaps it’s just because I like having time to get ready for work without being rushed. (I get up way early in the AM for the same reason – I hate feeling rushed out the door!) Who knows! Either way, I hope it doesn’t reflect badly on me – though, I have a sneaking suspicion that it won’t.
Now, it’s time to work!

It totally feels like I’ve got so many little chores to do before I’m done at work. I cleaned out my desk early (last Friday) because the newbie is sitting with me all week this week, but I’ve still got to finish sorting through old emails and forwarding them to my home address…I’ve got to make sure I’ve got all the files off my work computer and transfer them to my home computer.
I’m also taking care of the loose ends for school. I’m sending in my last updates – my CPR certification and my last of my titers. I’m working out my schedules, my orientation details, my tuition.
It’s like I’m in limbo. But I suppose everything will seem different next week. I’ll keep you posted.

Today is the last Monday at my job. It was a long day, seeing as I was training the newbie. He’s learning fast, but it’s hard to absorb all that needs to be done in one day. I think we were both feeling a little tired by the time that 4:30 rolled around.
Today I hope will be a relaxing night. I’m honestly not feeling that great – maybe because it’s been such a long day – and maybe because it started out with me having both a tea and a coffee. Yikes!
Tomorrow will be another day.

It’s been a pretty busy day at work – I’ve been working on emails not stop for about an hour and a half now, but that was too be expected because I’m getting a bunch of vacation requests. Phew – glad it’s almost over!
Yesterday was good – Rachel, Hannah (Rachel’s sister) and I went fabric shopping to get something that all of us can use to make our bridesmaid dresses. It’s gotten to be an easier adventure because now we’re all matching – so it made sense that we went looking for one piece of fabric. Rachel’s mum and sister can do the other girls, and my mum has graciously agreed to help me make my own verzion of the dress of my dreams. Luckily we found some great polyester imitation silk-type fabric that doesn’t wrinkle much and is the perfect colour – and it wasn’t too bad in price, especially because the staff were awesome enough to let Rachel use Nick’s membership card.
Now all I’ve got to do it wait for the dress patterns I won on ebay so Mum can start on the dress.
It was also lucky that by chance we passed a store that was selling shoes at a very reasonable price. Both Rachel and Hannah found the white shoes they were looking for for the big day. Yess!
I’m getting excited!

Seriously.
I want to drop kick my computer out the window today. It’s bumped me off an on the network connection for work so many times it’s like it’s on a see-saw. One minute it’s fine, the next minutes it’s not. It’s fickle! And I’m getting tired of it! A few minutes ago all but about 2 of my programs stopped working. Sheesh.
I think I will have to go on strike and let my computer do all the work instead of me tomorrow.

It’s sad! As of today, I have exactly one month left on the job. It’s going to go by sooo fast. I can’t believe it!
By no means to I regret moving onward and upward, but I will really miss some of the awesome people I work with – especially my working group in Waterloo, Montreal and Ottawa. I guess the good news is that I will have a chance to visit most of them by getting out of the city. But all the same, I’ve been working with most of them for a least a year, and when you consider that’s 8 hrs a day, 7 days a week, that’s a long time…
But no regrets, right? I’ve got to move forward, or I’ll never get to doing something I’m meant to do. I like my job, but not enough that I want to be doing it 40 years from now. So, it’s time to make a graceful exit.
Besides, they’ve already hired someone to take over for me. It think that means I can’t change my mind.

It’s been a busy start to the week after a relatively relaxing weekend of watching movies with M and sleeping. This week my work counterpart in Montreal is enjoying a week’s vacation, and as payback for all the vacation help I got over the last little while, I told him I would cover his site for him this week. Little did I know it meant I would barely have time to breathe for the last two days – yuck. But it’s not just me – our whole work place is a-buzz with craziness. I’ve just been trying to make it through the day.
Otherwise, it’s kind of weird not having M around this week – he’s up north working on a job site, so I’ve been chilling at home by my self. It’s strange, but it’s also good to have time apart so you appreciate the reunion.
Highlight for the week – seeing Get Smart with Coatesy. Definitely worth a view!

This week is just getting crazier and crazier. To recap, I’m in Waterloo with my team, getting to know them, and was hopefully going to attend some meetings. Alas, turns out that’s not really happening. There was a “crisis” my regular job site. And by crisis, I meant a pipe bursting launching stagnant water into the call centre.
(insert Mike Myers Scottish accent here) Toronto douwn! Toronto douwn!
So, what does that mean for me? It means I got the lovely priveledge of hopping back on the phones for part of the day, and it means that things are just a little bit hectic. Sigh.
Adventures it is.

Started day one of the new job today – I think it went relatively well, even with the added stress of the TTC strike this morning. Grr. Hiss. Boo.
Have become relatively obsessesed with putting pictures on Flickr. Check ‘em out.
I am tired, bed time.
